Join City leaders, Parks officials and pickleball enthusiasts for a short program followed by a ribbon cutting to officially open the new pickleball and tennis facility along Cincinnati’s riverfront on September 9 at 9am. Check out the newly renovated Sawyer Point Courts to incorporate brand new pickleball courts, a new state of the art surface, LED lighting, new nets and more.
About the Courts
While a few of this project’s scheduled improvements are yet to be completed, there is no doubt that the Pickleball Courts at Sawyer Point deliver on the promise that mobilized, committed advocates can win investment in our shared greenspaces and community. The courts are:
- beautiful (thanks to that stunning paint job)
- forgiving (thanks to those several cushion layers)
- well-partitioned (thanks to those ball barriers)
- well-lit (thanks to those new LED lights)
- easily accessible (thanks to those new court gates)
They have also been well-attended! In 2021, there was an average of 51.8 players per session; to date in 2022, that number rose to 93.1 players per session. We’re thrilled to see this kind of engagement, which we think truly reflects this community’s enthusiasm.
About the Sawyer Point Pickleball Community
The community of Sawyer Park pickleball players who spearheaded this effort—led by Gary Lessis—are serving success in their campaign for a permanent facility maintenance endowment. We are inspired by their generosity, grateful for their partnership.
