CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF ADA THROUGH OUR ADAPTIVE WELLNESS PROGRAM

This week, our nation celebrates the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). ADA protects people with disabilities against discrimination and ensures their participation in employment, public services, and more. The celebration of this law’s passage falls in the same week as the conclusion of our be.well adaptive running program. The be.well program is in partnership with Cincinnati Children’s HospitalCincinnati Parks, and seasonal partner, Fleet Feet Cincinnati.

The be.well Program provides programming to get children with disabilities and their families active outdoors. In normal times, this program would be offered in-person, but due to COVID-19 was made into a hybrid program. Participants enjoyed:

  • weekly training videos
  • one-on-one training with Cincinnati Children’s Physical Therapy staff
  • weekly comradery Zoom meetings
  • a virtual race at Smale Riverfront Park
  • FREE running shoes to suit their unique disability

Enrollment details for the fall session of the be.well program will be announced soon. Stay tuned to our social media accounts and eNewsletter for special announcements about this program and more!
