Each year, for the last 14 years, thousands of volunteers have joined Cincinnati Parks in the Mayor’s Corporate Challenge workday in accomplishing projects that are vital to the Parks’ maintenance. Groups of many sizes and abilities perform important conservation and beautification tasks across the city. Examples of work include:
- Mulching tree beds and playgrounds
- Planting trees and annuals
- Horticulture maintenance
- Invasive species and brush removal
Last year, due to COVID-19 restrictions, the event had to be cancelled. However, this year the event was back in full force, which was a joyous occasion. Cincinnati Parks Foundation Board members and staff joined Steelcase employees at Eden Park’s Twin Lakes to mulch and plant new flowers. It has been a long-standing tradition that these two organizations share the work load, smiles, and laughter at the event. Steelcase has represented with hard-working volunteers at the Mayor’s Corporate Challenge for 14 years!
This year, the team of 20 volunteers planted nearly 900 individual plants at Twin Lakes. The new plants include Firecracker Plants, Mexican Heather, Mexican Bush Sage, Coleus, Cannas, and many more. Take a trip to Eden Park and check out the beautiful new plantings.
