FAMILY CANOE AND MOVIE NIGHT A CPAC GRANT SUCCESS STORY

Cincinnati Parks Advisory Councils (CPAC) are volunteer citizen groups which seek to build and maintain public support for neighborhood Cincinnati Parks and provide programming for the community. This spring we launched a new pilot CPAC Grant Program to support park improvements, community programming and logistical support for many CPACs across Cincinnati.

Recently, the Rapid Run Park Advisory Council hosted a Family Canoe and Movie Night utilizing grant money from this program. The event featured canoeing on the the Rapid Run lake, with lessons, canoes and life vests provided by the Cincinnati Parks Explore Nature staff. The Boone County Arboretum gave away tree saplings and provided nature education while the Cincinnati Observatory allowed guests to use their telescopes. Participants also enjoyed lawn games, a bubble station and chalk drawing. This magical evening concluded with a movie projected on a giant screen at dusk.

Family Canoe and Movie Night organizer and Cincinnati Parks Foundation board member, Mary Jo Bazely  commented, “It’s wonderful to see all the activity going on in all the different parks with funding from the Cincinnati Parks Foundation.”
