Smale Family Fun Days: Free Activities and Giveaways for Kids

4th Annual Smale Family Fun Days hosted by the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Cincinnati Parks to Include Bike Helmet and Book Giveaways for Cincinnati-Area Children

Cincinnati families eagerly await the joyous and exciting annual Smale Family Fun Days, a delightful event series hosted by the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Cincinnati Parks at the Schmidlapp Lawn at Smale Riverfront Park. This year, the fun includes bike helmet and book giveaways, as well as free carousel rides at Carol Ann’s Carousel, promising a safe summer filled with laughter and adventure.

Smale Family Fun Days take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Thursdays June 6, July 11, and August 1. Cincinnati Parks Foundation, in collaboration with the Cincinnati Fire Department and Cincinnati Fire Foundation, is committed to ensuring the safety of area children during the fun summer months. Cincinnati firefighters will provide free bicycle helmets, assist with fittings, and share valuable safety tips with participating children.

At this event, the Foundation will launch its newest program, Ellen’s Heart & Soul, a reading program created in memory of their former board member, Ellen Sole, in partnership with Queen City Book Bank and her friends and family. Children who attend the event will receive a copy of My Wish for the World by Kristine Lombardi. Sole helped launch Smale Family Fun Days five years ago as a board member for the Foundation. To honor Sole’s love of books, Cincinnati parks, and her career as a preschool teacher, her close circle of friends worked with the Foundation to create the book giveaway program.

The 2024 summer event series will include bounce houses, puppet shows, petting zoos, live music, and, courtesy of UDF, free ice cream. Attendees are also invited to Carol Ann’s Carousel for a free carousel ride during event times.

Family Fun Days are free and open to the public, allowing families to come together, explore the beauty of Cincinnati’s parks, and create lasting memories. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, as supplies for the book and bicycle helmet giveaways are limited.
