Ascending Women Speaker Series

Jennifer H. Spieser, Executive Director of Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Kara Kish, Director of Cincinnati Parks are speaking at the third event in MadTree Brewing’s Ascending Women Series. Their talk will explore the importance of urban greenspaces and urban canopy for cities, and what the parks are doing to positively impact the environment and community.

The event will be held at MadTree Brewing Taproom on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 from 6:00PM – 7:30PM. Tickets cost $15 and a portion of ticket purchases will go to the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. (Ticket price includes admission and one beer.)

About the Speakers

Spieser joined the Cincinnati Parks Foundation in 2015. She has over 17 years of experience in the non-profit sector. She is passionate about Cincinnati and its treasured urban parks. Her past roles included the head of Development for the Cincinnati Fire Department, raising over $35MM on their behalf. She also became the first woman Public Information Officer in her tenure. Spieser was recently named a Cincinnati Business Courier C-Suite Award Finalist in the Chief Executive Officer category and is a member of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber‘ Leadership Cincinnati class of 2021. She is a member of the Women’s Committee of Cincinnati Parks.

Prior to being appointed as the first woman Director of Cincinnati Parks in 2020, Kish, a Certified Park and Recreation Executive, served as Deputy Director of Cincinnati Parks. Previously she was Superintendent of the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department (Indiana).  Kish has earned numerous awards and honors including the Robert W. Crawford National Young Professional Award, given to one professional annually, and the Park Design Award for the Griffin Bike Park (Indiana) by the National Recreation and Park Association. She is a member of the Women’s Committee of Cincinnati Parks.
