Did you know that a living tree offers tons of benefits? Some benefits of trees are:
- air pollution removal
- absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide
- energy savings for heating and cooling
- urban heat island effect mitigation
- natural storm water management
- human physical and mental health improvement
Because of all the benefits that trees provide, the Cincinnati Park Board’s Urban Forestry Division works diligently to bring each residential neighborhood up to 40% tree canopy coverage.
They established the ReLeaf Program in 1988 to provide shade trees for Cincinnati homeowners. Cincinnati Parks has given away nearly 20,000 trees in the 31 years of the program. This program is made possible through the support of the Duke Energy Foundation and the Cincinnati Parks Foundation. This support allows the trees to be provided to Cincinnati property owners at no cost!
Apply now to get your own free tree through this program. The deadline to apply is October 4, 2019. Applying online is easy. Simply fill out your information then select the tree you would like. A Cincinnati Parks forester will inspect your site for approval.
